Roberta Vinci is the star of the Italian tournament

The love for padel began years ago. Roberta Vinci, five-time Slam champion in doubles and finalist in singles at the 2015 US Open, plays padel whenever she can. This weekend, the Italian player is one of the stars of the FIP PROMOTION in Giulianova, with the CUPRA FIP TOUR making a stop in Italy with a men’s and a women’s draw. It will be played in Abruzzo, a region in central Italy, at Chico Padel, on three courts.

“This is the second year that we organise a CUPRA FIP TOUR tournament – says Fabio Fiorà, tournament director -. In 2022 it was a great success, with over 500 fans coming to the club and 20 pairs. This year the numbers have increased: between men’s and women’s we have reached almost 60 pairs, with many players arriving from abroad. The level has risen“. In the men’s draw, the number 1 seed is the Spaniard Carlos Perez Cabeza and the Italian Emiliano Iriart followed, in the seeding, by Lorenzo Di Giovanni and Daniele Cattaneo.

Marco Cassetta, Italy’s number 1 (108 in the world ranking), is also on the court with the Spaniard Joaquim Florensa Hernandez. Roberta Vinci, on the other hand, is playing in a pair with Erika Zanchetta; the second seed is the pair formed by Valentina Tommasi (who recently became Italian champion with Circolo Canottieri Aniene) and Eugenia Guimet Bigas.
