CUPRA FIP FINALS 2023, new format for the event of a record-breaking season

The 2023 season of the CUPRA FIP TOUR has only just begun, but the goal of all the players in the world is already set: to qualify for the FINALS, which last year were held in Turin in a week of great padel at the Palasport Gianni Asti.

In view of this edition, which will close a record year in terms of the number of tournaments organised – 110 on all continents, and this is the first time this has happened – the FIP has studied a new format that will allow even players who lose a match to get back in the game and have a chance to win the tournament.

The eight best pairs from the CUPRA FIP TOUR coming from Europe (the continent with most FIP tournaments) will advance to the CUPRA FIP FINALS, plus the four best pairs from tournaments played in America and South America, the two best pairs from Asian tournaments and two pairs from a Qualification draw made up of four wild cards granted to the American FIP member federations that have shown the most activity during the year and other pairs qualified by ranking until the draw (composed by 16 pairs both in the man’s and women’s draw) is completed.

The pairs qualified to the FINALS, therefore, after the first round will be divided into two draw, with the losers having a second chance to get into the game and face – again with the knockout formula – all the other defeated pairs. On the other side, instead, the winning couples will continue to face each other, as already happened in 2022. The prize money for the CUPRA FIP FINALS 2023 will be 80.000 euros, equally distributed (40.000 each) between the men’s and women’s draw. The winners of the CUPRA FIP FINALS will earn 150 ranking points; the finalists will get 90, then, going down, 45 for the semi-finalists, 22 for those who will play the quarters, 11 for those who will play the round of 16.
