Wednesday is B-Day, the Big names take the stage in Miami. Tolito vs. Paquito is the rock match

Wednesday is B-Day—the day when the Big names of padel hit the courts at the Miami Beach Convention Center. And it promises to be a spectacle. The echoes of cheers, fan chants, and applause from a roaring Tuesday can still be heard across the three courts that hosted the “Tuesday matches.” It was an all-out battle to secure a spot in the second round of the motorola razr Miami Premier Padel P1.

MEN Many matches were decided in three-set thrillers. Among the standout victories were Benitez/Martinez’s win over Cruz/Sager (4-6 7-5 6-3), Rico-Gutierrez’s triumph over Jofre/Hernandez (6-3 4-6 6-4), and the great comeback of Tolito Aguirre and Gonza Alfonso against Valdez/Sanchez (4-6 6-3 6-1), one of the most electrifying matches of the day. The fans also erupted at the end of the “American clash,” where Nico Agritelley and Vinny Di Francesco defeated cousins Aaron and Matias Segura, earning themselves a high-profile match against Jairo Bautista and Fran Guerrero, the 2024 CUPRA FIP Finals champions.

The show on Day 1 also included birthday celebrations for Mike Yanguas and Martin Di Nenno, who were at the Miami Beach Convention Center waiting for their tournament debut. Di Nenno is set to make his first appearance tomorrow alongside Javi Garrido (the No. 5 seed), facing Jesus Moya and Javi Rico. Also taking the stage are seeded duos such as Momo Gonzalez/Jon Sanz (6), Edu Alonso/Ale Arroyo (8), Pablo Cardona/Leo Augsburger (9), and Ale Ruiz/Alex Chozas. And fans can expect another thrilling showdown as Aguirre/Alfonso prepare for a high-intensity battle against Lucas Bergamini and Paquito Navarro (7).

WOMEN The action is already at full intensity in the women’s draw, with the crowd captivated by Ana Nogueira and Martina Fassio’s victory over Marina Guinart/Victoria Iglesias (3-6 7-6 6-4) and Melania Merino and Agueda Perez’s win over Talavan/Sharifova (6-0 1-6 7-6). Tomorrow’s debut matches will feature top-seeded players like Ale Salazar and Veronica Virseda (7), who take on home players Brittany Dubins (born in Miami) and Marta Morga. Meanwhile, Lucia Sainz and Patty Llaguno (5) will face qualifiers Lujan/Mesa, while Jessica Castelló and Aranzazu Osoro (8) take on Lara Arruabarrena and Lorena Rufo.
