Houten, Manquillo and Martinez win again: success for Coello junior in the men’s draw
March 9, 2025
Leti Manquillo and Patri Martinez win again. The pair also triumphed at the new CUPRA FIP Tour event in the Netherlands, the FIP Bronze Houten. Born in 2005 and 2001 respectively, the two Spanish players repeated their victory at the FIP Bronze Egypt I in February, winning the final against their fellow Spaniards Ortiz-Gallardo with a score of 6-1 6-1. It was a one-sided match that shows the great form Manquillo and Martinez are in during the first part of 2025.
“We had an intense weekend, playing five tough matches to win the title. I’m very happy with the improvements and with winning the FIP Bronze Houten. We are going home with a lot of confidence and even more motivation to keep working,” said Leti Manquillo after the final in the Netherlands.
In the men’s draw, the success went to Rodrigo Coello (brother of Arturo, number one in the FIP ranking) and Ferran Insa. The Spanish pair, seeded third in the Netherlands, won the final against the French players Bergeron and Blanqué with a score of 6-2 6-4. This was an important win for young Rodrigo, who is ready to follow in his brother’s footsteps. He is back to winning after his victory at the FIP Gold in Potosi in 2024 and now wants to shine at the Cancun P2, where he is entered with Andres Fernandez Lancha.
“It’s amazing to be the new champions of this fantastic tournament in Houten. I want to congratulate my partner Ferran, he’s an incredible player. Now I’m looking forward to playing the next tournaments,” said Coello after the victory.
