Melbourne Game4Padel Open, what a season start for Rose and Gibson!

The FIP Silver Melbourne Game4Padel Open had many ‘excellent’ names at the start: Rafter, Bjorkman, Errani, Garbin. However, it was British Catherine Rose and Aimee Gibson who took centre stage, winning their second consecutive title after last week’s FIP Silver in Sydney. In the final, Rose and Gibson beat the number one seed on the draw, Dutchwomen Bo Luttikhuis and Marcella Koek 6-3 6-2. “We are proud of our “back to back” – the winners’ words –. Two weeks in a row lifting a trophy – Gibson added –. I’m proud to play and fight with Catherine”.
In the men’s draw, on the other hand, Joel Olivera and Guillem Figuerola failed to achieve a double, defeated in the final with a score of 6-4 7-5 by Roberto Belmont and Victor Tur. “There could not have been a better way to start the year – commented the two champions –. The level we expressed in this first tournament together was incredible”.
