Cardona and Bergamini officially into the Finals. The FIP Race for the last women’s spot is on fire

There were only two places left to go in the FIP race for the Barcelona Premier Padel Finals, but the round of 16 at the Milano Premier Padel P1 has delivered the final results. Pablo Cardona and Lucas Bergamini won a ticket to the Palau Sant Jordi, where the season will come to a close from December 19th to 22th: Cardona, the number 5 seed at the Allianz Cloud with Paquito Navarro, won the ‘direct clash’ against Sanyo Gutierrez (paired with José Diestro), excluding the Argentine legend from the race to the Finals. The defeats of Alex Arroyo and Alex Ruiz (beaten by Momo Gonzalez and Edu Alonso), that of Juan Tello (with Inigo Jofre, against Martin Di Nenno and Juan Lebron) and above all his victory in the match that ended Fernando Belasteguin’s career, on the other hand, also gave qualification to Lucas Bergamini, who tomorrow will try, paired with Javi Garrido, to reach a final already played two years ago in Milan with Victor Ruiz.

“Today is Bela’s moment, not mine Bergamini said –, but of course I’m happy to have qualified for the Finals. It could have happened anywhere, it happened here in Milan. Here again, in a special tournament for me, in this match that makes history”.

WOMEN In the last three days of the Milano Premier Padel P1 the last slot for the Finals in the women’s FIP Race remains to be awarded. Three players are still in the running: Ale Alonso, Aranzazu Osoro and Tamara Icardo. Alonso, paired with Andrea Ustero (already qualified), beat Lucia Martinez Gomez and Carla Mesa 7-5 7-5; so did Osoro (6-0 6-1 paired with Veronica Virseda to Orsi/Rodriguez) and Icardo with Claudia Jensen 6-3 6-4 over Marta Barrera and Marta Caparros. Alonso/Ustero, in the quarters, will face Lucia Sainz and Patty Llaguno, Osoro/Virseda with Delfi Brea and Bea Gonzalez, Icardo/Jensen with Marta Ortega and Sofia Araujo. Only one will be able to fly to Barcelona.
