The draws: Sanchez-Josemaria hunting the en plein after Doha, Rome and Paris

The Premier Padel circuit returns to Mexico for the last Major of the season: up for grabs, 2,000 points for the winning pairs and the last places for the Premier Padel Finals in Barcelona, to which the first 16 players of the FIP Race have access. In Acapulco, a city that has already hosted a P1 this season (won by Arturo Coello and Agustin Tapia among the men and by Jessica Castelló and Claudia Jensen among the women), all eyes will be on the record chase of Paula Josemaria and Ari Sanchez, who after winning in Doha, Rome and Paris go in search of the fourth Major title of their extraordinary season. In the women’s 48 pairs draw (with the 16 seeded players going straight into the second round), Josemaria and Sanchez will begin against the winner of the match between Sofia Saiz and Marina Lobo and the pair formed by Ariadna Cañellas and Marta Borrero. Gemma Triay and Claudia Fernandez will be the number 2 seed and will find a qualified pair or Ana Catarina Nogueira/Laia Rodriguez in the second round. The two P1 winners from Acapulco, Castelló and Jensen, will play with Ale Salazar (5) and Tamara Icardo (7) respectively. These are the hypothetical quarter-finals: Sanchez/Josemaria (1)-Osoro/Virseda (8), Castelló/Salazar (5)-Ortega/Araujo (4), Brea/Gonzalez (3)-Sainz/Llaguno (6), Icardo/Jensen (7)-Triay/Fernandez (2).

MEN In the men’s draw, Arturo Coello and Agustin Tapia lead the entry list: the Spanish and the Argentine are chasing title number 13 in 2024, the third Major after Doha and Paris. In the 56-pair draw, with the top eight seeds admitted to the second round, Coello/Tapia find Toni Bueno and Antonio Luque or Pol Hernandez and Rama Valenzuela. The number 2 seed will again be Fede Chingotto and Ale Galan, who in Kuwait City for the first time didn’t make it to at least the final: they will debut against Pedro Melendez and Carlos Marti or Dani Santigosa and Miguel Lamperti. Also seeking revenge, after their knockout in the round of 16 in Kuwait, are Martin Di Nenno and Juan Lebron (3), who will debut against Emilio Sanchez Chamero and Javi Valdes or against two qualifiers, while the tournament of Franco Stupaczuk and Mike Yanguas, finalists in Kuwait City, will begin against Miguel Gonzalez and Miguel Angel Solbes or a qualified pair. These are the hypothetical quarter-finals: Coello/Tapia (1)-Nieto/Sanz (6), Gonzalez/Alonso (7)-Di Nenno/Lebron (3), Stupaczuk/Yanguas (4)-Bergamini/Garrido (8), Cardona/Navarro (6), Chingotto/Galan (2).
