Title to Ruiz-Arroyo and Alonso-Sainz. How the FIP Race changes
November 24, 2024The FIP Platinum Mexico crowned Alex Ruiz and Alex Arroyo among the men and Ale Alonso and Lucia Sainz among the women. If in the women’s draw it was the number 1 seeded players who lifted the trophy thanks to a 6-4 6-4 victory over Virginia Riera and Julieta Bidahorria, among the men the number 2 seeded players defeated in three sets (with a score of 6-2 3-6 6-0) the number 1 seeded players Javi Garrido and Lucas Bergamini. With the 250 points gained by the four players in the FIP Race, many positions changed in the sprint for a place in the Barcelona Premier Padel Finals. Alex Ruiz, who started at number 18, gained two positions with the first title of his season and is now number 16, but the Spanish is now only 12 points ahead of the Brazilian, who lost one position. Sanyo Gutierrez, a semi-finalist in Mexico, also drops (from 16th to 18th), but with the FIP Platinum victory Alex Arroyo, number 19 but with only 60 points to make up on 16th, also returns to hope. Pablo Cardona remains number 15, but with only 52 points ahead of Bergamini, who would now be the first of the excluded.
With the title in the FIP Platinum Mexico, Ale Alonso overtakes Aranzazu Osoro and returns to 16th place in the FIP Race, 150 points ahead of the ‘Viking’ and 200 ahead of Virginia Riera, beaten in the Mexican final. But those coming up are two weeks not to be missed: first the 2,000 points up for grabs in the Premier Padel GNP Mexico Major, then the 1,000 in the Milano Premier Padel P1, which can still change the top 16 leading to Barcelona.
