La Nucía, Rubio makes history: at 15 years old, he’s the youngest winner of a CUPRA FIP Tour tournament
November 18, 2024Being extraordinary at just 15 years old. Aarón García Rubio triumphed at the FIP Promotion La Nucía – a city that hosted the FIP Seniors World Padel Championships last April – becoming the youngest player ever to win a tournament on the CUPRA FIP Tour. Partnering with fellow Spaniard Sergio Arias Aznar, Rubio, born in 2009, defeated the second-seeded pair Pastor-Ramos in the final with a score of 6-3 6-4, capping off a dream weekend.
In the women’s category, the title went to the fourth seeds, Spaniards Paniagua-Pérez, who triumphed over third seeds Gómez-López after a hard-fought three-set match (7-5 0-6 6-4).
Next weekend, three FIP Promotion tournaments are scheduled: in Doha (Qatar), recently the stage of the FIP World Padel Championships; in Delhi (India); and in Houten (Netherlands).
