Netherlands and Sweden aiming for ninth place
November 1, 2024At the FIP World Padel Championships, while the top teams battle for titles and podium spots, there’s still room for emerging teams to make their mark. On Saturday morning at the Khalifa International Tennis and Squash Complex in Doha, all eyes will be on Sweden and the Netherlands, two promising teams that will compete for ninth and tenth place.
Friday afternoon saw passionate support for both teams: Sweden went the distance, playing three matches to finally edge out Belgium 2-1, with wins from Slaryd/Axelsson and a clutch victory by Appelgren/Frost after Belgium evened the score in the second match with Azzola/Geens. The Netherlands took on Uruguay with the same 2-1 result, thanks to Meijer/Roper and then Van Betuw/Richters.
Uruguay and Belgium will face off for 11th and 12th place, Mexico and the U.S. for 13th and 14th, while Paraguay and Qatar will compete for 15th and 16th.
