Day 4. ‘Zazu’ Osoro dreams of first final with Virseda

The morning quarter-final session of the Newgiza Premier Padel P2 was marked by four marathon matches, all of which ended in the third set. On centre court, the first to celebrate were the only ones to overturn the entry list predictions. ‘Zazu’ Osoro and Veronica Virseda, the tournament’s number 6 seed, stopped the run of Delfi Brea and Lucia Sainz (2) by coming back from a set down and finishing 4-6 6-3 6-4. The Argentinean can therefore dream of the first final of her career in the Premier Padel circuit, after having reached that of the FIP Platinum Sardegna; between Osoro and Virseda (who had already reached the final in the P2 in Bordeaux paired with Ortega) there are ‘Martita’ and Sofia Araujo, seeded number 3 and victorious 4-6 6-2 6-2 over Nuria Rodriguez and Carolina Orsi. On the other side, Gemma Triay and Claudia Fernandez (1), after their 6-0 6-2 win over Ale Alonso and Andrea Ustero, will find Jessica Castelló and Ale Salazar (4), who avenged their defeat in the final of the FIP Platinum in Marbella by beating Tamara Icardo and Claudia Jensen with the score of 4-6 6-3 6-2.

MEN In the men’s draw, on the other hand, the top four seeds went into the semifinals: Franco Stupaczuk and Mike Yanguas (1) gave up just five games (6-2 6-3) to Lucas Campagnolo and Javi Leal and will face not before 6 p.m. local time (5 p.m. CET) Momo Gonzalez and Edu Alonso (3), who for the third time in three matches in Egypt had to play three sets before winning 5-7 7-6 6-2 over Alex Ruiz and Alex Arroyo (5). The other semi-final will be between Coki Nieto and Jon Sanz (2), victorious 6-4 6-2 over Lucho Capra and Maxi Sanchez (8), and the pair formed by Javi Garrido and Lucas Bergamini (4), who dominated (6-2 6-1) Tino Libaak and Fernando Belasteguin (7). For Nieto and Sanz, the chance to play for their second title of the season after Bordeaux is still alive.
