Quarterfinals begin: tomorrow’s clash among the “Fabulous 8”

At the FIP Juniors European Padel Championships in Budapest (Hungary), the quarterfinals are about to begin after Day 3, which today determined the matchups for the second phase of the continental tournament dedicated to padel’s rising stars. In the men’s tournament, the most balanced and exciting tie was in Group D, where Belgium and the Netherlands faced off in the decisive battle for first place. A showdown that lasted late into the night and ultimately saw the Belgian team win 2-1 after three fiercely contested matches. On Thursday (starting at 4 PM), the “Red Devils” will face Portugal, who today lost to Sweden (0-3) in the clash for the Group B lead. The Swedes will meet the Dutch in tomorrow’s quarterfinal.
A flawless path for Spain, which today defeated France 3-0, securing the top spot in Group A. The defending champions will face Estonia, who, with today’s 2-1 victory over Hungary, finished second in Group C. The French also advance to the knockout stage and will play against Italy: for the “Azzurri,” who topped Group C, today’s match ended with a 3-0 victory over Lithuania. The teams competing for places ninth through sixteenth will be Switzerland, Germany, Norway, Austria, Lithuania, Hungary, Denmark, and Finland.

WOMEN Predictions held true for the four seeded teams in the women’s tournament, all of whom finished the group stage with perfect records. After defeating the Netherlands 3-0 on Day 3, Spain awaits Belgium in the quarterfinal starting at 9 AM. The other two matchups will take place at the same time: in the top half of the draw, besides Spain-Belgium, France will face Estonia, with the “Bleues” having defeated Portugal 2-1 in today’s most evenly matched contest. The Portuguese finish second in Group D and will meet Sweden tomorrow, who topped Group B after a 3-0 win over Hungary. For Italy, which finished the first phase by defeating Belgium (3-0), the Group D win means a showdown with the Netherlands, second in Group A. Germany, Finland, Czechia, and Hungary will compete for places ninth through twelfth.
