Day 1, Chozas-Augsburger: new Argentinean pair starts with a win

Among the new pairs on court on the day 1 of the Comunidad de Madrid Premier Padel P1, Argentinians Alex Chozas and Leo Augsburger were certainly among the most awaited. And on their debut as a pair on the Premier Padel circuit came their first win: with 6-4 6-3 wins over Chipi Muñoz and Javi Garcia, Chozas and Augsburger earned themselves a second-round match against Arturo Coello and Agustin Tapia, the number 1 seed on the draw. All of the world’s best players have known their opponents in the round of 16, which will take place on Tuesday and Wednesday: for Fede Chingotto and Ale Galan (2) there are qualifiers David Gala and Tonet Sans (the match will close the programme on the WiZink Center), while Martin Di Nenno and Juan Lebron (3) find Ignacio Piotto and Adrian Marques, also from the qualifiers.

WOMEN Tomorrow, after the end of the qualifying draw (four pairs won today the last round), the women’s main draw will also begin. And opening the day in Madrid will immediately be a big match, with Ale Alonso and Andrea Ustero – respectively number 18 and number 19 in the FIP ranking – opposing Lucia Sainz (number 9) and Patty Llaguno (13), the number 6 seed and finalists in Santiago and Rome. Next, again on the Centre court, it will be the turn of Gemma Triay and Claudia Fernandez (3) against wild cards Lorena Alonso/Maria Catalina Tenorio, with number 2 seed Delfi Brea and Bea Gonzalez opening the afternoon session (starting at 4 p.m. CET) against Marta Barrera and Marta Caparros.
