FIP Rise Villa Mercede Cup, Geens-Rubini and Sussarello-Godallier celebrate the title

Giulia Sussarello and Lea Godallier, both back on court after the birth of their children, lifted the trophy in Frascati (Italy), venue of the FIP Rise Villa Mercede Cup played over the weekend. The Italian and the Frenchwoman, both protagonists with their respective national teams at the FIP European Padel Championships in Cagliari, Italy, were the number 1 seed in the draw and lived up to the expectations, defeating Nuria Vivancos and Lucia Peralta (2) in the final with a score of 7-6 6-1.
In the men’s tournament, however, victory went to Belgian Clement Geens and Argentine Juan Ignacio Rubini. Starting as the number 7 seed, Geens and Rubini eliminated the number 1 seeded pair of Alvaro Montiel and Simone Cremona in the semifinals, before completing the job with a 7-5 6-3 win over Flavio Abbate and Giulio Graziotti. With these 31 points, Geens moved closer to the top 100 of the FIP ranking, gaining five positions, rising from 107 to 102.
