FIP Promotion Villacarrillo Jaen, Portillo-Barroso, fabulous weekend

A jump in the FIP ranking of 555 positions for Hugo Portillo, one of 86 for Sergio Esteban Barroso. The two Spaniards, who were not among the seeded players, lifted the trophy in the FIP Promotion in Villacarrillo, beating Roberto Belmont and Javier Rodriguez Marquez (seeded number 2) in the final with a score of 6-4 4-6 6-3. For both it was their first title on the CUPRA FIP Tour. “It is a real pleasure to play with you, you are a fantastic player and person”, Portillo’s words to his partner. “We had a lot of fun on and off the court”. “We beat very strong pairs, showing maturity, a desire to compete and a hunger to win”, added Barroso. “Thanks also to the tournament organisation”.

In the women’s draw, it was Argentina’s Maria Laura Ferreyra and Daiara Valenzuela (5) who won, overcoming6-2 5-7 6-2 Aida Martinez and Nati Lopez Diaz in the final. “Super happy to have won this tournament with my friend Daiara and for maintaining a very good level”, commented Ferreyra, ranked number 152. “Thank you for this victory and for making me enjoy it so much”, the words of happiness of Valenzuela, who rises to number 129 in the FIP ranking.
