FIP Promotion Camboriú II, Abarzua and Menna champions without losing a set

Suzane Lens and Alessandra Abbud de Barros came close to the double in the second FIP Promotion played in 2024 in Camboriú (Brazil): the number 1 seed in the women’s draw, however, were beaten 6-3 6-2 by Fernanda Abarzua Branchi and Gabriela Menna Barreto, who started out of the top seeds and defeated 6-4 6-1 the number 2 seed Julia Cirne Lima and Marina Brandao in the round of 16 before taking the title without losing a set. The 15 FIP ranking points earned by the two players, who are part of the Brazilian national team, mean a 400-place jump in the ranking, which brings Abarzua and Menna Barreto to number 263.
