FIP Rise Sandigliano, Title to Cassetta-Gonzalez and Sussarello-Stellato. Giulia celebrates with her son
July 1, 2024Three Italian players won the FIP Rise in Sandigliano (Italy): Marco Cassetta, paired with Spanish José Luis Gonzalez, and Giulia Sussarello and Emily Stellato, queens of the women’s draw. Victory went to both pairs of number 1 seeded players: Cassetta (who with this title is approaching the top 100, he is now 102) and Gonzalez (who climbed to number 82, +3) gave up only three games (6-1 6-2) to Jaume Romera and Pau Miñano, while in the women’s tournament Sussarello and Stellato won 6-2 6-4 in the final over Eugenia Guimet and Ainara Pozuelo.
Sussarello celebrated her victory with her partner and holding her son Andrea, born three months ago. “Winning together with you is even more exciting”, her words, followed by those of Stellato. “You start winning game after game, gaining more and more confidence. To each his own story, nothing to prove, just the desire to get back to what we know how to do together”. Sussarello gains one position in the FIP ranking and rises to number 84; for Stellato, on the other hand, a jump of two positions to number 70.
