FIP ranking, Bea Gonzalez on the podium, Delfi Brea number 4. Men: what a jump for Oria and Chozas!

The Sevilla Premier Padel P2, the sixth stage of the season of the professional circuit governed by the FIP, generated important changes in the FIP ranking, especially in the women’s ranking. The title of the pair formed by Delfi Brea and Bea Gonzalez (which gave the two players 500 points each) allowed the Argentinean and the Spanish to gain a position and overtake Gemma Triay (eliminated in the semifinals, paired with Claudia Fernandez, by the number 1 Sanchez-Josemaria): the new ranking sees Bea Gonzalez on the third place of the podium, Delfi Brea in fourth place and Gemma Triay in fifth. Other interesting movements, among the Top 100, are the three positions gained by Spain’s Arantxa Soriano (round of 16, passing through the qualifiers), reaching 51st place, and Martina Fassio, who gained four positions, placing herself at number 55.

Compared to the ranking at the beginning of 2024, the Top 30 players who gained the most positions were Veronica Virseda (+3, from 17th to 14th) followed just 15 points behind by Claudia Fernandez (climbed to number 15, thanks to the 2130 points earned in these first tournaments) and the pair formed by the two very young Spanish players Alejandra Alonso (number 21, +11 positions) and Andrea Ustero (number 27, +12 since the beginning of the year). Among the Top 100, those who gained the most positions (14) were Italy’s Lorena Vano (No. 62) and Brazil’s Manuela Schuck (No. 66).

Among the men, there was no movement among the Top 15: after his second victory in a row paired with Federico Chingotto, Ale Galan strengthened his second place with 288 more points than Agustin Tapia. The first change is the gain of position number 19 by Argentine Maxi Sanchez, after reaching the quarter-finals paired with Sanyo Gutierrez. Among the Top 30, Brazilian Lucas Campagnolo (No. 25) and Spaniard Eduardo Alonso (No. 29) also climb one position. Leap forward this week for the Spanish pair of Miguel Semmler (No. 59) and Ignacio Vilariño (No. 62), who both gained four positions. Even better were the young Argentines Leandro Augsburger (No. 76) and Tino Libaak (No. 79), both up 11 positions.

Comparing the major changes in the Top 30 of the men’s FIP ranking since the beginning of 2024, Agustin Tapia has gained three positions (from No. 6 to No. 3 thanks to the three tournaments he won, for a total of 4580 points gained together with Arturo Coello); step forward (+9) for Mike Yanguas (No. 11) and Javi Garrido (No. 12), while Edu Alonso – now No. 29 – has gained an impressive 16 positions. Extending the Top 100, a big leap forward for Salva Oria (now number 46, +60 compared to the beginning of 2024), followed by Alex Chozas (68, +40) and Augsburger (+39) and Libaak (+37).
