FIP Rise Argentina II, more wild cards up for grabs for Mar del Plata
April 25, 2024In Argentina it’s Premier Padel fever. After the one in early April, another FIP Rise (called FIP Rise Argentina II) is being played this weekend, with wild cards up for grabs for the P1 scheduled from 20 to May in Mar del Plata, with 80% of the tickets already sold. Maxi Sanchez Blasco and Federico Chiostri, winners of the previous tournament, will be the number 6 seed in a draw led by Britain’s Christian Medina Murphy (number 128 in the FIP ranking) and Spain’s Belar Vera Lopez (120), followed by ‘Rama’ Valenzuela (230) and Pol Hernandez Alvarez (163), the latter already winner of three CUPRA FIP Tour tournaments in 2024.
The women’s draw is also being played: at Lasaigues Padel Canning, the No. 1 seeds are Spain’s Ana Dominguez Gracia (no. 88 in the FIP ranking) and Laura Lujan Rodriguez (116), with Italian Marianela Montesi (117) and Spanish Aitana Garcia Roman (105) leading the bottom half of the draw. In addition to the wild cards and prize money, “there will obviously be points in the FIP ranking up for grabs – explained Santiago Brito, president of the APA (Asociación Padel Argentino) – so that the new promising players add their first points in the world ranking”.
