FIP Seniors World Padel Championships, nine federations with at least one medal
April 21, 2024The FIP Seniors World Padel Championships in La Nucía (Alicante) will remain an unforgettable memory for the almost 600 players, who competed for a week on the courts of the Comunitat Valenciana in a triumph of flags, colours and cultures. The team competitions were won by Spain (women’s) and Argentina (men’s), but nine federations won at least one medal.
The record number of golds goes to France, which won five of the ten Open pairs draw (four of them among the women), but Sweden (women’s Over 55 and men’s Over 40) and Mexico, winner with Octavio Lara and Fabian Mujica of the men’s Over 45 draw, also celebrated.
Two silvers and four bronzes (including one team bronze) for Italy, one silver and two bronzes for the Netherlands. One silver (that of Marcos Daniel and Joao Paulo Martins in the men’s Over 40) went to Brazil, as did the United States with Veronica Liz Costabel and Mariana Beatriz Talarico in the women’s Over 50. Yes, padel is truly a global sport.
