FIP Seniors World Padel Championships, day 5

Spain for the double, France and Argentina for history

Spain to confirm itself as world champion, France and Argentina to rewrite history. In La Nucía (Alicante) on Saturday is the day of the finals of the FIP Seniors World Padel Championships, which will put the world team and pairs titles up for grabs, the latter divided by category. After their previous successes in 2018 at home and 2022 in Las Vegas, Spain will be chasing a third consecutive world title in both the women’s and men’s draw. The women, in today’s semifinal, beat the Netherlands 5-0 without losing a set; the men, on the other hand, were protagonists of a very balanced tie, which ended 3-2 against France after the Bleus had won the first two matches.

Contending for the women’s world throne with the Spanish will be France, who beat Italy 3-2. Among the men, however, the second semi-final went to Argentina, who beat Sweden 4-1. Also cheering on the Albiceleste national team was Delfi Brea, who is ready to return to the court next week in the Lotto Brussels Premier Padel P2 and has come to La Nucía to support her father Nito. The women’s final will start at 10.30 a.m., the men’s at 3.30 p.m.: both will be live streamed on the International Padel Federation’s YouTube channel and that of the Comunitat Valenciana Federation. In the evening, after the end of the finals (the finals of the Open tournaments will also be played, as well as those to compose the ranking of the team tournament), the big party prize-giving ceremony.
