FIP Seniors World Padel Championships, day 4. Spain and France still dream of a double

The FIP Seniors World Padel Championships title is now down to four teams in both the men’s and women’s draw. Two national teams are still in the running for a double: two-time defending champions Spain and France. But there are four other federations dreaming: the Netherlands and Italy among the women, Sweden and Argentina among the men.

If Spain, in the women’s tournament, benefited from a bye and tomorrow will face the Netherlands, who beat Sweden 3-2 at the end of a very balanced tie with two victories in the third set, in the men’s one it defeated 5-0 Mexico, which nevertheless exited with honour, losing two matches in the decisive tiebreak. France, on the other hand, defeated the United States (4-1) with the women and Italy (3-2) with the men.

Spain and France, however, will not play both finals against each other: among the men, in fact, there will be a direct clash, with the other semifinal that will see Sweden (who beat the Netherlands 3-2, avenging the women’s defeat) and Argentina, who did en plein against Chile without losing a set. Among the women, however, it will be Italy who will contend for a place in the final against France, after their 3-2 win over Belgium.

On Friday, as happened today, the women’s semifinals will start at 10 a.m.; the men will take the court at 4 p.m.. And as happened today, the federations that did not reach the draw for the top positions will continue to compete. Because the FIP Seniors World Padel Championships is a tournament, but above all a party.
