FIP Rise Aquahobby Isla de la Palma, Jofre, double happiness: he wins at home

“Thanks to everyone for the support. It’s an honour to win at home”. Inigo Jofre, who has long since settled in the Canary Islands, triumphed in the FIP Rise Aquahobby Isla de la Palma, paired with Luis Hernandez Quesada. In the final, the two champions (who started as the number 3 seed on the draw) beat Alvaro Cepero and Miguel Benitez 6-1 6-4, after having won back a set (6-7 6-3 7-5) in the semifinals from Gil/Jimenez. Jofre gained four positions in the FIP ranking (rising from 76 to 72); Hernandez jumped eight (from 84 to 76). “Continuing to work like this we will improve even more”, Jofre’s words.

Winning the women’s title were Jana Montes and Raquel Eugenio, who were not even among the seeded players but lifted the trophy by beating the number 1 on the draw Arantxa Soriano and Martina Fassio 6-3 6-1 in the final. “We won playing at a great level and with great solidity throughout the tournament – the winners said –. Thanks to everyone who supported us”. For Montes it is the second title in a row after the FIP Promotion Betsson Sweden III in Gothenburg; for Eugenio it is even the third, after the two FIP Promotion titles won in La Cala and Castellón, won in partnership with Camila Fassio, Martina’s sister.
