FIP Rise Cairo, Araus-Lopez, what a jump in the FIP ranking!

The CUPRA FIP Tour as a springboard into the FIP ranking. Patricia Araus Lopez and Maria Cristina Lopez Fuertes had their dream weekend, lifting the trophy in FIP Rise Cairo (Egypt). A surprise victory for the two Spaniards (who were not among the seeded players), who defeated 6-4 6-2 the number 1 seed Lucia Perez Parra and Lorena Alonso De Lera in the final, which allowed the two players to make an incredible jump in the ranking: Araus gained 88 positions (rising to number 158), Lopez Fuertes even 161, rising to number 171.

On the other hand, it was British Christian Medina Murphy and Spanish Belar Vera Lopez who lifted the trophy in the men’s draw: a final that was an authentic marathon, with Medina Murphy and Vera Lopez defeating 7-5 4-6 7-6 Frenchmen Maxime Moreau and Johan Bergeron, number one on the entry list. For the number two pair, however, it was the first success of the season on the CUPRA FIP Tour 2024.
