FIP STAR Fastweb Padel Arena Perugia, it’s showtime again in Italy

A few days after the end of the FIP PLATINUM Sardegna, and after an extraordinary success on the court and in the sold-out stands of the TC Cagliari, the padel show is back on stage in Italy. It moves to Perugia, in the club owned by two world football champions such as Italy’s Andrea Barzagli and Marco Materazzi, for a FIP STAR, the Star Fastweb Padel Arena Perugia, another international tournament that is part of the CUPRA FIP Tour, the most important circuit in the world. A reference point for players and national federations on five continents, with more than 120 tournaments worldwide. Last year there were 37 host nations, with 7,808 athletes registered and 3,782 matches played

From Monday 16 to Sunday 22, there will be two draws, one men’s and one women’s, both with 32 pairs: in the men’s, there will be 26 pairs admitted by right, plus four from the qualifiers and two wild cards, while in the women’s there will be 30 pairs admitted by ranking, plus two wild cards. The tournament will begin with three qualifying rounds before the main draw starting on Thursday 19.

Leading the men’s entry list are Alejandro Arroyo and Eduardo Alonso, world numbers 25 and 49 respectively. They are followed by Pablo Cardona (75) and Ivan Ramirez Del Campo (31) and the pair formed by Nachi Sager (44, winners of the CUPRA FIP Finals 2022) and Mario Del Castillo (41). Among the women, however, leading the list of players present in Perugia are Marina Martinez Lobo (35) and Carolina Navarro Bjork (30), both veterans – like many players present in Umbria – from the great week in Cagliari. There are, of course, Italian players: Chiara Pappacena (79), and Giorgia Marchetti (77), but also in the top ten are Caterina Maria Baldi (120) and Valentina Tommasi (125), who will try to follow in the footsteps of Carolina Orsi, a finalist last Sunday in Sardinia.
