Chingotto/Yanguas-Sanchez/Capra, semi-final show

It will be a great Saturday in Cagliari, on the day of the semi-finals of the FIP PLATINUM Sardegna, a tournament promoted by the Autonomous Region of Sardinia, Department of Tourism, Crafts and Commerce, under the patronage of the Cagliari Municipality. At the top of the draw, Fede Chingotto and Mike Yanguas beat Ivan Ramirez and Pablo Garcia Rodrigo in three sets (7-5 6-7 7-5) in a very balanced match that filled the stands of the Tennis Club Cagliari. In the semifinals, the number one seeded players will find Maxi Sanchez and Luciano Capra who, at the end of a battle of nerves that lasted an hour and 46 minutes, beat (2-6 6-4 7-5) Mario Del Castillo and Nachi Sager, the latter winner of the CUPRA FIP Finals 2022. A match, the one between the numbers 1 and 3 on the draw, that promises to be impressive, and is scheduled on the Centre Court not before 6 p.m.

The other semifinal (second match on the Centre Court) will face Nieto/Rico (4) against Gil/Moyano (5). The afternoon session also saw the name of the last pair qualified for the women’s semifinals: in the last quarter came the victory in almost two hours (4-6 6-3 6-3) of Patri Llaguno and Lucia Sainz (2) over Guinart/Navarro Bjork. The two Spaniards will face Spain’s Beatriz Caldera Sanchez and Portugal’s Ana Caterina Nogueira (8) not before 4.30 p.m. The session will open at 10.30 a.m. with the first women’s semifinal between Martinez Lobo/Rodriguez (6) and Orsi/Mesa Salazar (7).
