here are the draws. The first round on Tuesday

The wait is over. With the ballot of the men’s and women’s main draws, the FIP Platinum Sardegna, an event promoted by the Autonomous Region of Sardinia, Department of Tourism, Handicrafts and Trade, under the patronage of the Municipality of Cagliari, has officially opened. Today is the day of the first qualifying round, but hundreds fans – also thanks to the splendid sunny Sunday – were already at the TC Cagliari. Tomorrow (October Monday 2nd) the second and third qualifying rounds will be played, which will determine the four pairs that will join the 24 already admitted to the main draw, which will start on Tuesday and Wednesday with the first round matches. The top four in the seeding, on the other hand, will debut directly on Thursday in the round of 16. Fede Chingotto and Mike Yanguas (1) will face Javier Barahona and Javier Garcia or a qualified pair; also at the top of the draw are Maxi Sanchez and Luciano Capra (3), who await Bautista/Munoz or Sanchez/Valdes. At the bottom half, Momo Gonzalez and Javier Garrido (2) find Marcos/Rodriguez Martinez or Fernandez/Cardona while Nieto/Rico (4) will face Lijo/Alonso or Italian-Argentinians Suescun and Dominguez.

Among the women, Tamara Icardo and Maria Virginia Riera (1) go directly to the second round (same format as the men’s, 4 bye, 4 qualifiers who will join the other 20 pairs): debut against Manquillo/Vano or a qualifier. Italy’s Marchetti/Pappacena will meet Arellano Navarro/Piltcher; Krakow European Games gold medal Carolina Orsi (paired in Poland with Marchetti) and Carla Mesa Salazar will face Borrero/Sharifova. The event – in which there is free entry – is part of the CUPRA FIP Tour, the most important international padel circuit, a reference point for players and national federations on five continents, with more than 120 tournaments worldwide. Last year there were 37 host nations, with 7,808 athletes registered and 3,782 matches played. The big names in padel, both men’s and women’s, will face off in Cagliari: 200 ranking points for the winners and a prize money of 60,000 euros, equally distributed between men and women, for a total prize money of 120,000 euros.
