Dutch champions in triumph

Sten Richters and Bram Meijer, the Dutch national champions, won the FIP PROMOTION in Vienna. In the final, Richters and Meijer – the number 2 seed in the draw – defeated favourites Alvaro Sola Sala and Nicolai Maniucov Maniucova in three sets (4-6 6-3 6-1). “Excellent teamwork”, said Richters. “We won a very long and tough final”. After conceding only five games in the first two rounds, the Dutchmen had also been forced into the third set (6-2 4-6 6-1) by Ignacio Alonso Chillaron and Joaquin Mazzeo Rubi in the semifinals.
