A Wednesday not to be missed All the best play at the Foro
July 12, 2023Nice the semifinals, nice the finals, but the highlight of the week for a racquet sports fan is Wednesday. Yes, because Wednesday is the day when all the strongest players make their debut. The BNL Italy Major Premier Padel gets into full swing with the second round matches featuring the debut of the top seeds. Opening the morning session (starting at 9 a.m.) on the Centre Court will be Gemma Triay and Maria Ortega, the number 2 seed in the women’s main draw, opposing Carmen Castillon and Nuria Vivancos, followed by the number 2 seed in the men’s draw, Argentines Franco Stupaczuk and Martin Di Nenno, will debut against Spaniards José Antonio Diestro and Javier Leal.
In the afternoon session, starting at 4 p.m., immediately Delfina Brea and Beatriz Gonzalez on Pietrangeli 1 (the iconic stadium has two courts) against Jimena Velasco and Noa Canovas. It’s always going to get bigger: at 6 p.m. on the Centre Court there are Arturo Coello and Agustin Tapia against Bautista and Diaz Martinez, while on the Pietrangeli there will be the ‘baptism’ of Paquito Navarro and Federico Chingotto against the Italians Lorenzo Di Giovanni and Daniele Cattaneo.
There will be a busy programme on the Centre Court, where it will be the turn of Ariana Sanchez and Paula Josemaria against the teenagers Alejandra Alonso and Andrea Ustero and of defending champions Juan Lebron and Ale Galan, who will face Spanish compatriots ‘Pincho’ Fernandez and Pablo Cardona. The Pietrangeli, on the other hand, will host Mike Yanguas and Fernando Belasteguin (against José Luis Gonzalez and Antonio Luque) and the pair formed by Alex Ruiz and Juan Tello. A day in one word: unmissable.
