Women’s padel lands at the Foro. The top players: “Rome, nice to meet you”

Women in a new era. The BNL Italy Major Premier Padel is marking the beginning of a new chapter: the one in Rome is the first Premier in “combined” mode, with the men’s and women’s draw. Who will lift the trophy on Sunday on the Centre Court? The list of top players starts with number 1 Paula Josemaria and Ariana Sánchez. “We are all happy to be here, the site looks spectacular – they said during the media day –. We have seen the courts, we are very happy to start this new adventure in the Premier Padel circuit. We like favourites to win? We don’t think about it. We want to enjoy the moment and think match by match”.

Gemma Triay, on the other hand, is playing as a partner with Maria Ortega, after the injury of Alejandra Salazar, who was the protagonist of last Saturday’s draw on the Pietrangeli court. “We have been playing together for three weeks now and I think things will get even better – said Triay, winner of the Serie A with a club in Rome, Canottieri Aniene -. Playing in Rome is a great feeling, we can’t wait to start”.

Among the most awaited players is Argentina’s Delfina Brea, playing at the Foro with Beatriz Gonzalez: “This tournament marks the beginning of an important journey – explained Brea -. A step forward for this sport, for women and in general”. “Guys told us about the tournament in Rome, they said it was one of the best last year, for the site, for the public”, added Gonzalez. “We came with a great desire to win and play well”.
