Padel lands in Japan

One FIP RISE for men, one FIP PROMOTION for women. The CUPRA FIP tour lands in Japan for a double date scheduled in Osaka, between Padel One Hoshida and Padel One Shinkana. In the men’s draw, the top-ranked player is Spain’s Sergio Icardo (number 95), who will be on court as the number one seed paired with other Spaniard Javier Lopez Garcia.

Icardo recently won the FIP STAR in Riyadh paired with Nachi Sager, who will be on court in Hoorn this weekend. On the other side of the draw, Portugal’s Miguel Oliveira – bronze medal at the European Games in Krakow paired with Afonso Fazendeiro – and Kuwaitian Mohammed Saadon Alkuwari. Also on court, as No. 3 seed, is Ferran Insa Sotillo, winner in Frihammen, paired with another Spaniard, Nicolai Maniucov Maniucova.

Fourth seed-and last to skip the first round of a 28-pair draw, Nikhil Mohindra and Samuel Jones. Both very young, Mohindra and Jones made the same decision: to leave Great Britain and to improve their padel in Spain. In the women’s PROMOTION, made up of nine pairs, the only one to already have ranking points is that formed by Japan’s Rio Yamada and Maiko Kutsuna.
