Mediolanum Padel Cup, in Rome title to Garcia-Barahona and Lopez-Garcia

In Rome, in the first Italian stage of the FIP Silver Mediolanum Padel Cup, it was the number 1 seeded players who lifted the trophy. Javi Garcia and Javier Barahona in the men’s draw, Amanda Lopez and Lucia Garcia in the women’s, ended the week with the title and without losing a set.

Garcia and Barahona, in the men’s final, overcame 6-3 7-5 the very young “Coquito” Zamora and José David Sanchez: “It was wonderful to play in an atmosphere like this, with a great crowd and great opponents”, the words of the winners, who are now awaiting the trip to Qatar to play the Ooredoo Major Premier Padel and who in Rome won their third CUPRA FIP Tour title as a pair, after those of Perugia (Italy) and Doha (Qatar) in 2023.

In the women’s final, however, Lopez and Garcia (the latter reaching her seventh title on the CUPRA FIP Tour, -1 behind Nati Lopez and Laura Lujan, who lead the all-time rankings with eight) defeated Italians Chiara Pappacena and Giulia Sussarello 6-1 6-4, coming back from a marathon semi-final (6-7 6-3 6-4) over Ginier Barbier/Pothier.
