The CUPRA FIP Tour made history with its first event in Malaysia. During the weekend, the FIP Bronze Kuala Lumpur took place. The winners were Seurin-Trillas Garcia in the men’s draw and Philips-Tordoff in the women’s draw.
In the men’s final, Seurin and Trillas won against the Spanish pair Bernils-Nogueras with a score of 6-4, 7-6, 6-3. It was the first CUPRA FIP Tour win for Julien Seurin, and the fourth for Albert Trillas.
“First title of the year and a big joy after my last knee injury. Reaching this level of play in such a short time and having so much fun on court is just magical. A big thank you to everyone who helped me come back so fast. Let’s enjoy this for a moment and then start again this weekend with a new tournament. Thanks for your support, you’re the best,” said Seurin after the win.
In the women’s tournament, the British pair won. They had reached the quarterfinals of the FIP Bronze in Egypt before. In the final, they beat the top seeds Anastasiia Ryzhova and Lucia Fernandez Lopez 6-1, 6-4, winning their first title on the international circuit.
