Padel cherishes its history and celebrates those who helped write it. The second edition of the FIP Seniors Euro Padel Cup, which takes up the legacy of the FIP Seniors European Padel Championships, will be held from 29 September to 4 October in Cartagena, one of Spain’s historic cities. An event organised by International Padel Federation with the support of Padel Europe, the Spanish Padel Federation (FEP) and the Padel Federation of the Region of Murcia (FPRM), and which confirms the FIP’s mission to enhance the present and the future of this discipline but without forgetting its origins, giving the opportunity to compete for a European title to those who have taken padel to a new dimension.
“The organisation of the FIP Seniors Euro Padel Cup is a pride for us – said FIP President Luigi Carraro –. It’s an event that fully reflects a principle in which we deeply believe: in sport and in padel in particular, talent knows no age. The FIP Senior competitions are a resource of great value for every continental federation, as they represent an opportunity to make the most of the experience and technical and tactical skills gained throughout an entire career, turning them into an inspiring example. It will be a great Padel show and a heritage that speaks directly to the new generations, who, by observing and learning from the exploits of those who have gone before them, will have the opportunity to collect a legacy of inestimable value”.
In Cartagena, the competition will be played on eight courts that will be set up for the occasion in the seaport, to which another 16 will be added, for a total of 24 ‘pistas’: an extraordinary location that will host European best players divided into categories, +35, +40, +45, +50 and +55 years old. As usual, two competitions will be scheduled: one for national teams, with 24 men’s and 24 women’s teams competing for the titles, and one for pairs, with two ‘parejas’ per category for each participating nation.
The Cartagena edition of the FIP Seniors Euro Padel Cup follows the one held in 2023 at the Ciudad Deportiva Camilo Ciano in La Nucía (Alicante), in which almost 500 athletes from 17 different nations participated.
