Day 4. Coello and Tapia, the revenge is done. Semifinals on Friday

When Arturo Coello and Agustin Tapia faced Pablo Cardona and Leo Augsburger, the mind could only go back to that P1 round of 16 in Santiago, when the ‘Carburger’, one of the most interesting pairs of 2025, had eliminated the FIP number 1 ranked players. At the Khalifa Tennis&Squash Complex in Doha, a great match also emerged, as had happened in Chile, but this time Coello and Tapia – defending champions in the Ooredoo Qatar Major Premier Padel – prevailed with a double 6-4, the result of two breaks in the decisive games of the two sets. Coello and Tapia, in the semifinals, will face Coki Nieto and Mike Yanguas (3), who at the end of a two-hour and 47-minute marathon eliminated Momo Gonzalez and Jon Sanz (5) 7-6 4-6 7-5. The other semifinal, the one at the bottom, will be between Fede Chingotto and Ale Galan (6-1 6-4 to Edu Alonso and Alex Arroyo) versus Paquito Navarro and Lucas Bergamini, who in the evening beat Javi Garrido and Martin Di Nenno 6-4 4-6 6-3.

WOMEN In the women’s draw, on the other hand, it will be Delfi Brea and Gemma Triay (2) on one side and Alejandra Salazar and Veronica Virseda (7) on the other who will open the semi-finals programme on the centre court at 3 p.m. Doha time (2 p.m. CET). The winners in Gijon, Cancun and Miami, after beating Bea Caldera and Carmen Goenaga 6-2 7-5, will face the only pair outside the top four of the seeding and who eliminated Marta Ortega and Sofia Araujo (4) with a score of 2-6 6-2 6-4. FIP number 1 Paula Josemaria and Ari Sanchez, meanwhile, will have to overcome Bea Gonzalez and Claudia Fernandez, ahead 6-3 6-3 over Lucia Sainz and Patty Llaguno to defend the title they won in 2024.
