Day 3. From Riyadh to Doha, Goenaga and Caldera take a seat at the top table

Carmen Goenaga and Bea Caldera had started the season with a great result: the quarter-finals in the Riyadh Season P1, the opening tournament of the 2025. But the best was yet to come: the number 10 seed in the Ooredoo Qatar Major Premier Padel also reached the quarters in Doha, beating Ale Alonso and Andrea Ustero with a double 6-2. Goenaga and Caldera now have a tough mission against Gemma Triay and Delfi Brea (2), who still needed three sets to defeat Marina Guinart and Victoria Iglesias. The other quarter-finals that will open the day at the Khalifa Tennis&Squash Complex, starting at 3 p.m. local time (2 p.m. CET) will be Sainz/Llaguno (5)-Gonzalez/Fernandez (3), Sanchez/Josemaria (1)-Icardo/Jensen (9) and Ortega/Araujo (4)-Salazar/Virseda (7).

MEN In the men’s draw, however, the top eight seeds qualified for the quarter-finals. The only two forced to play three sets were Javi Garrido and Martin Di Nenno (4), at their last tournament together, who struggled before getting the better of Fran Guerrero and Jairo Bautista 7-6 1-6 6-1. In the late evening, Edu Alonso and Alex Arroyo (7) defeated 3-6 6-3 6-4 Alex Ruiz and Alex Chozas (9). Predictions, however, were fulfilled in Doha, with Arturo Coello and Agustin Tapia (1) again facing Pablo Cardona and Leo Augsburger (8) in a rematch of the Santiago round of 16. The other quarterfinal at the top is Gonzalez/Sanz (5)-Nieto/Yanguas (3), with the duel between the winners of the Qatar Airways Premier Padel Finals in Barcelona. At the bottom, it will be Garrido/Di Nenno (4)-Navarro/Bergamini (6) and Alonso/Arroyo (7)-Chingotto/Galan (2).
