Puebla, start on Tuesday. Sweet memories for Jess Castelló and Ale Alonso
March 3, 2025
The CUPRA FIP Tour moves to Mexico, where the first FIP Platinum of the season is scheduled to take place this week in Puebla, which will precede the start of the P2 Padel Premier in Cancun by a few days. Many big names are at the start of the two draws, with the main draw matches starting on Tuesday, with the finals scheduled for Saturday. In the women’s draw, the legend Ale Salazar (currently number 15 in the FIP ranking) and Veronica Virseda (13) lead the draw, with Aranzazu Osoro (18) and Jessica Castelló (9) seeded number 2; the Spanish player will be returning to Mexico where she won an extraordinary P1 title last year (in Acapulco) paired with Claudia Jensen. Also to be followed are Andrea Ustero (14) and Ale Alonso (16), just back from their semi-final in the P2 in Gijon: for Alonso too it’s a sweet return to Mexico after her November success in another FIP Platinum that opened the doors to the Finals in Barcelona.
The number 1 pair in the men’s draw is Italian, with Denis Perino and Facundo Dominguez leading a draw where the number 2s are the eternal Miguel Lamperti paired with Argentine compatriot Agustin Torre. Ivan Ramirez and the very young Mexican Diego Arredondo complete the podium; the number 6 seeds are Tolito Aguirre and Gonza Alfonso, defeated on Sunday in Gijon in their first Premier Padel circuit final.
