Puebla, day 4. Paredes, Gijon and now Mexico: third final in a row for ‘The Magicians’

Portugal, Spain and now Mexico. With their suitcases always packed, Tolito Aguirre and Gonza Alfonso continue to put on a show and collect excellent results in this beginning of 2025. After the final they won in the FIP Gold in Paredes and the one they lost last Sunday in the P2 in Gijon, ‘The Magicians’ took the first plane to Puebla, where they will play another final, that of the first FIP Platinum of the season. After beating Enzo Jensen and Boris Castro 7-6 6-4, Aguirre and Alfonso – the number 6 seed in the men’s draw – will face Alonso Rodriguez and Juan Ignacio Rubini.

The men’s final will start not before 9 p.m. local time (4 a.m. CET); the women’s final, scheduled for 7 p.m. Mexican time, will see Ale Alonso and Andrea Ustero (3) take on Noa Canovas and Jimena Velasco, who continue their dream week. ‘Las Turkis’ gave up just four games (6-1 6-3) to number 1 seed Ale Salazar and Veronica Virseda; for Canovas/Velasco, 7-6 5-7 6-3 over Aranzazu Osoro and Jessica Castelló.
