FIP looks to the future: President Carraro at the European Olympic Committees (EOC) Assembly

A new milestone in the journey of padel’s global recognition. The 54th General Assembly of the European Olympic Committees (EOC) concluded today in Frankfurt, Germany, after two days of key meetings and significant developments for the international sports community. Representing the International Padel Federation (FIP), President Luigi Carraro actively participated in this important event, engaging in crucial discussions about the future of the fastest-growing sport.

Following his meeting in early February at the CONI Hall of Honor in Rome, President Carraro once again met with Thomas Bach, President of the International Olympic Committee (IOC), and Juan Antonio Samaranch, a candidate for the upcoming IOC presidency. These important discussions reinforced a shared vision for padel’s continued expansion and its growing prominence on the global stage.

A fruitful meeting was also held with Kit McConnell, the IOC Sports Director and newly appointed Chief Sport Officer for the Olympic Games Brisbane 2032. Their conversation focused on FIP’s ongoing initiatives to develop and promote padel worldwide — an essential step in the sport’s journey toward Olympic recognition.

Carraro also met with a Turkish delegation, including representatives from the Municipality of Istanbul and the Türkiye Olympic Committee (TOC). Discussions centred on the European Games 2027, set to take place in Istanbul following the great success of the 2023 edition in Krakow, where padel made its historic debut in the European multi-sport event.

Finally, Carraro extended his congratulations to Spyros Capralos on his re-election as EOC President, as well as to Carlo Mornati, the newly appointed Secretary General, and all newly elected council members who will be guiding the Olympic movement in Europe in the years to come.
