Day 2. Tolito-Alfonso vs. Lebron-Stupa: the Cancun rematch in Chile

From Mexico to Chile, from a final to a round of 16. There will again be Tolito Aguirre and Gonza Alfonso in the path of Juan Lebron and Franco Stupaczuk: the P1 in Santiago will be the theatre for the rematch of the challenge that gave ‘Lobo’ and Stupa their first title as a pair. The tournament enters its decisive phase, with three surprises coming from the second round challenges: Aguirre and Alfonso, the protagonists of an impressive start to 2025, defeated Javi Ruiz and José Diestro (16) 6-3 6-2, while the other two pairs victorious against seeded ‘parejas’ were Marc Quilez and Tonet Sans (ok in three sets against Edu Alonso and Alex Arroyo, number 8 on the draw) and Victor Ruiz and Xisco Gil, ahead thanks to a 7-6 6-2 victory over Lucas Campagnolo and Maxi Sanchez (14). Winning debuts for the first two pairs on the draw: 6-2 6-4 by Arturo Coello and Agustin Tapia over Josete Rico and Agustin Gutierrez, 6-3 6-1 by Fede Chingotto and Ale Galan over Enrique Goenaga and Teo Zapata.

WOMEN In the women’s round of 16 (the programme will start at 1 p.m. local time (5 p.m. CET) there will be seven of the eight seeded pairs. The round of 16 will see the debut of the number 1 ranked Paula Josemaria and Ari Sanchez, as well as Delfi Brea and Gemma Triay, who begin their chase for a fourth title in a row against Marta Borrero and Martina Calvo.
