Day 1 Lamperti-Santigosa, the new pair have fun. And the youngsters learn

Miguel Lamperti and Dani Santigosa, a padel legend and a NextGen player, since the beginning of 2025 have chosen to have fun together in the Qatar Airways Premier Padel. In the first round of the men’s draw at the Santiago P1, Lamperti and Santigosa – ranked 66th and 97th in the FIP ranking respectively – defeated Federico Mourinho and ‘Pincho’ Fernandez 7-6 6-4, securing their place in the second round, where they will face Mike Yanguas and Coki Nieto. While Lamperti’s career speaks for itself, Santigosa performed well last year in the CUPRA FIP Tour, even reaching his best ranking at number 72. In recent years, Lamperti has shared the court with many young players, who saw the experience as an opportunity to grow alongside a player still competing at the highest levels. With the first-round results, the round of 16 draw was defined, which will feature the seeded players: Fede Chingotto and Ale Galan, winners in Miami, will face Enrique Goenaga and Teo Zapata, while Arturo Coello and Agustin Tapia will play against Josete Rico and Agustin Gutierrez. The debut of the Miami finalists Juan Lebron and Franco Stupaczuk will be against Ramiro Moyano and José Jimenez.

WOMEN The Santiago women’s draw also began, and today the first round will be completed with the debut of two seeded pairs: Sainz/Llaguno (5) and Ustero/Alonso (6). With the victory over Noa Canovas and Jimena Velasco, Carolina Orsi and Nuria Rodriguez will face the number 1 ranked pair Ari Sanchez and Paula Josemaria.
