FIP announces the FIP Euro Padel Cup: a new XL format for a ‘global’ competition. Carraro: “It’s a sign of exceptional growth and the high demand for participation”

New format, new name and a new horizon for the European national federations. FIP announces the birth of the FIP Euro Padel Cup, a continental team competition that picks up the legacy of the European Padel Championships, as part of a development project born from the need to adapt the format of the competition to the great request for participation from European countries. With the FIP Euro Padel Cup and thanks to the cooperation of the national federations and Padel Europe, the International Padel Federation aims to involve more and more nations in light of the extraordinary growth of padel in the world – and in Europe in particular – with the aim of giving more and more athletes the opportunity to measure themselves at an international competitive level, wearing the jersey of their national team.

CARRARO “The FIP Euro Padel Cup is a sign of the exceptional growth of Padel – underlines FIP president Luigi Carraroand the answer to a need that is the result of the planning of the last few years. We have always said that the goal was to progressively widen the perimeter of passion and involvement, working on a sport that today is considered a global phenomenon. Thanks to teamwork with the National Federations, we have recorded the growth of padel in an increasing number of countries, the rise of the technical level, and the consequent greater demand for participation in major continental events. From here, the unavoidable need to redesign the competitions, starting with the European Championships, on the occasion of the 14th edition. The national team’s jersey is pure magic for the players, and this FIP Euro Padel Cup will make history in our sport”.

NEW FORMAT There will be 40 teams in the men’s tournament and 40 teams in the women’s tournament in the 2025 edition, which will be divided into three phases, the first two of which will be played from July 7th to 13th at the same venue: in the first phase (from day 1 to day 4) the national teams with the lowest rankings will compete for four places in the second phase, when the national teams from 5th to 16th place in the European ranking will enter the scene, and from day 5 to day 7 they will compete for qualification to the final phase. Awaiting the four teams from the second phase will be Spain, Italy, Portugal and France, the top four national teams in the European ranking, with the eight finalists divided into two groups of four, from which the four semi-finalists will emerge. A new format, that of the FIP Euro Padel Cup, conceived in a strategy of greater participation and sustainability by virtue of the great request from FIP member countries, always in the light of increasing competitiveness and the show to be offered to the public.
