Melbourne Game4Padel Open, Errani, Garbin, Rafter and the two Bjorkmans: what a show!
January 9, 2025Reading the entry list of the FIP Silver Melbourne Game4Padel Open, the second Australian event of the CUPRA FIP Tour 2025, there is a parade of champions. If Pat Rafter and Swedish Jonas Bjorkman (on court as his son Max, with different partners) are not at their first experience with padel, the presence of Sara Errani and Tathiana Garbin stands out. The two Italians have written and are writing the history of Italian tennis and not only: Errani, defeated in recent days in the Australian Open tennis qualifiers, won the gold medal in doubles at the last Olympic Games in Paris and was also decisive for Italy’s victory in the Billie Jean King Cup.
Garbin, on the other hand, is the captain of the Italian national team. From doubles in tennis to padel, Errani – currently number 9 in the WTA speciality ranking and winner of six Slam titles in doubles, the last of which in 2024 in New York in the mixed doubles – will have a new experience alongside Garbin, who as a player reached the quarter-finals at Wimbledon in 2009. And the Game4Padel fans in Melbourne will be able to enjoy all the big boys in the same club on a weekend not to be missed.
