FIP AND PREMIER PADEL ANNOUNCE NEW 2025 FIP RANKING POINTS AND TOURNAMENT CRITERIA
January 17, 2025The International Padel Federation (FIP), in conjunction with Premier Padel, announces the breakdown of official FIP ranking points for the 2025 season across the Qatar Airways Premier Padel Tour and CUPRA FIP Tour circuits, which will become effective from 3rd February 2025. This will ensure a more dynamic and competitive structure and follows extensive consultations with key stakeholders – including players and their respective associations, promoters, sponsors and broadcasters.
FIP WORLD CUP PAIRS
The newly launched FIP World Cup Pairs – debuting for the first time in 2025 in November – will award 2,000 points FIP ranking points to the winners of the tournament, and 1,200 to the finalists.
QATAR AIRWAYS PREMIER PADEL TOUR
The following amendments have been made to the ranking points awarded for Qatar Airways Premier Padel Tour tournaments during the 2025 season:
- The 2025 Qatar Airways Premier Padel Tour will maintain the overall balance of FIP ranking points across its Major tournaments, P1 tournaments and the Qatar Airways Premier Padel Finals.
- The value of P2 tournaments has now increased with 600 FIP ranking points awarded to the winners.
- Higher FIP ranking points will be awarded to the first rounds in P1 and P2 tournaments.
- New FIP ranking point allocations have been introduced for qualification rounds across various tournaments categories (see attached table).
CUPRA FIP TOUR
The following amendments have been made to the CUPRA FIP Tour for the 2025 season:
- Four new categories: Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum.
- Certain categories of the CUPRA FIP Tour will see increased point allocations across tournaments.
- Winners of FIP Platinum tournaments will receive 300 FIP ranking points, FIP Gold tournament winners will receive 150 FIP ranking points and winners of the CUPRA FIP Finals will receive 225 FIP ranking points.
QUALIFICATION AND MAIN DRAWS
In addition to the updated 2025 season point system, the FIP and Premier Padel have formalized new formats for main draw and qualification rounds in Major, P1, and P2 tournaments for both the men’s and women’s categories for the 2025 edition of the Qatar Airways Premier Padel Tour.
This follows extensive consultations throughout the 2024 season with key stakeholders – including players and their respective associations, promoters, sponsors and broadcasters – to ensure a more dynamic and competitive structure for the 2025 season.
Tournaments on the Qatar Airways Premier Padel Tour will follow the following formats across main draw and qualification rounds unless stated*:
- Major Tournaments: Men: 48 pairs (MD) and 24 pairs (Qual); Women’s: 40 pairs (MD) and 16 pairs (Qual)
- P1 Tournaments: Men: 40 pairs (MD) and 24 pairs (Qual); Women’s: 28 pairs (MD) and 16 pairs (Qual)
- P2 Tournaments: Men: 28 pairs (MD) and 24 pairs (Qual); Women’s: 24 pairs (MD) and 16 pairs (Qual)
* Tournaments are subject to change – with certain qualification draws having 16 pairs for men and 8 pairs for women.
