What a show on day 1 of the NextGen

Lots of talent, determination, and the desire to shine. Day 1 of the FIP Promises Finals wrapped up with the best of the NextGen putting on a show at the courts of Venezia Padel Club (Italy). The competition will heat up on Saturday, with the final group stage matches in the morning and the semifinals of the six draws (three boys and three girls) in the afternoon.

BOYS In the Under 14 category, Tommaso Sarti and Lorenzo Sargolini are unbeaten in group A, while in group B, Spain’s Juan Conesa and Mario Brocal are on top, dropping just six games in their two matches on day 1. In the Under 16s, Aaron Garcia, the youngest-ever winner of a CUPRA FIP Tour tournament, got off to a flying start and, with Vicente Soto, leads group A. In group B, the Italian pairs Gabriele Laurino/Andrea Di Martino and Alessandro Zaccagnino/Nicolò Lomoro are tied with six points each. In the Under 18s, another Spanish duo, Noe Sanchez and Pablo Reina, leads group A, while Antonio Palma and Alvaro Pozo are on top of group B, also with full points.

GIRLS In the Under 14s, there’s a tight race in group A between Spain’s Amaya Sanchez/Naia Santisteban and the duo Sophie Caruso/Emma Speziali, both with six points after two matches. In group B, Claudia Ferrer and Ona Calvo are in the lead. In the Under 16s, Patricia Roman and Angela Lorenzo are dominating group A, while in group B, Matilde Minelli and Vittoria Giraldi are making their mark. In the Under 18s, the top performers on day one were Camilla Livioni and Flavia Coppola in group A, while Sofia Pastor and Carlota Sanchez are leading group B.

Saturday morning will feature the third and final group-stage matches, while the semifinals kick off in the afternoon from 2 PM CET.
