Day 2. all the top seeds advanced. Quarter-finals on Friday

In Bourg en Bresse (France), the top seeds of the CUPRA FIP Finals all started their tournament with a victory. Fran Guerrero and Jairo Bautista beat Javi Martinez and Guillermo Collado 6-2 6-4: a victory that gives the Spanish direct access to the semifinals, after the withdrawal of Pincho Fernandez and José Jimenez following their victory (6-2 6-3) over Dylan Guichard and Thomas Leygue. Juan Cruz Belluati and Javi Ruiz also made good debuts at the top, as did José Diestro and Juanlu Esbri. In the bottom half, Nachi Sager and Lucas Campagnolo qualified and will face Inigo Jofre and Teo Zapata; the other quarter-final is between Javi Garcia and Javier Barahona against Victor Ruiz and Lucho Capra.

WOMEN Eight out of eight seeds also reached the quarter-finals in the women’s draw, with France hoping in Alix Collombon, who with Araceli Martinez beat Marta Talavan and Martina Calvo 6-2 6-3 and will face Marina Lobo and Teresa Navarro on Friday; also at the bottom, victories for Lorena Rufo and Lara Arruabarrena as well as Carolina Orsi and Nuria Rodriguez, who will face each other with a place in the semi-finals at stake. At the top half, however, the number 1 seed Marina Guinart and Victoria Iglesias (6-7 6-3 6-2 to Marta Barrera and Marta Caparros) will find the 7th, Noa Canovas and Jimena Velasco; also facing off are Ana Caterina Nogueira and Sara Ruiz Soto against Ksenia Sharifova and Marta Marrero.
