Day 1. Italian smiles: Sinicropi and Di Giovanni gain Sanyo Gutierrez

Exactly one month ago, on November 2nd, Italy took a historic fourth place in the men’s draw at the FIP World Padel Championships in Doha. A month later, on the first day of the Milano Premier Padel P1, Riccardo Sinicropi and Lorenzo Di Giovanni took the satisfaction of winning the Italian derby against Marco Cassetta, paired with Spanish Miki Solbes. A success that gives Sinicropi and Di Giovanni a fascinating second round, against Sanyo Gutierrez (still in the running for a place in the Premier Padel Finals) and José Diestro, the number 10 seed. Arturo Coello and Agustin Tapia, arriving from Mexico, will debut on Wednesday against qualifiers Mario Ortega and Tonet Sans; Fede Chingotto and Ale Galan, defeated in the last two semifinals in Kuwait City and Acapulco, will start their journey at Allianz Cloud against Alvaro Cepero and Miguel Benitez. Tuesday is the opening day for the top seeds, with the fight for a place in the Barcelona Premier Padel Finals involving – among others – Javi Garrido and Lucas Bergamini (7) but also Alex Ruiz and Alex Arroyo (9). World champions Alex Chozas and Leo Augsburger (16), among others, will also be on court.

WOMEN The women’s tournament will also begin on Tuesday, after the end of the qualifying rounds that saw, among others, the victory of Italian wild cards Caterina Baldi and Giulia Dal Pozzo. With the withdrawal of Paula Josemaria and Ari Sanchez due to an injury of ‘Paulita’, it will be Gemma Triay and Claudia Fernandez who will lead the women’s draw, with defending champions Delfi Brea and Bea Gonzalez moving into the bottom half and the pair formed by Ale Alonso and Andrea Ustero taking the number 9 seed.
