Potosí, the Coello family’s magical weekend: Rodrigo also wins

For the Coello family it was an unforgettable weekend. Not only the triumph of Arturo, number 1 in the FIP ranking, winner with Agustin Tapia of the P1 in Dubai (11th title in the Premier Padel circuit for ‘Arturito’), but also that of Rodrigo, Arturo’s younger brother, who in San Luis de Potosí (Mexico) won his first career title in the CUPRA FIP Tour. As the number 7 seed in FIP Gold, paired with Boris Castro, junior Coello won 2-6 6-1 6-1 in the final over Oscar Matias Almada and Juan Manuel Argañaras.

“I congratulate Rodrigo for winning his first tournament”, said Arturo directly from Dubai. A success, that of the player born in 2004, which earned Rodrigo Coello a jump of 19 positions in the FIP ranking, from 162 to 143. In the women’s draw, on the other hand, came the second consecutive title for Letizia Maria Manquillo and Arantxa Soriano, the number 1 seed, who won 6-1 7-5 in the final over Nuria Vivancos and Xenia Clascà, who had also won the FIP Star in Aguascalientes in Mexico. For Manquillo a further gain of four positions in the FIP ranking (she is now number 60), Soriano on the other hand rises from 59 to 52.
