Oeiras, the first time of the CUPRA FIP Tour in Portugal

The men’s team’s bronze medal at the last FIP World Padel Championships is a sign that padel in Portugal is becoming increasingly popular. And at the weekend, for the first time, Portugal will host a CUPRA FIP Tour tournament: a FIP Rise will be played in Oeiras with two draws – one men’s and one women’s – of 32 pairs each.

Among the men, the entry list is led by Italians Simone Cremona and Marco Cassetta, defeated by Portugal in the final for third place in Doha, followed by Portugiuese Gustavo Nunes and Spanish Raul Marcos. Among the women, however, Spanish Lucia Garcia and Argentinean Daiara Valenzuela are the top seeds in the draw, with Italian Martina Parmigiani and Emily Stellato (bronze medallist at the FIP World Padel Championships against Portugal) leading the bottom half. Other pairs on the court include Nacho Moragues and Marc Sintes, winners of last week’s FIP Star in Kaunas.
