WOMEN Excellent debut for FIP ranking number 1 and world champions Ari Sanchez and Paula Josemaria, with 6-1 6-4 to Melania Merino and Esther Carnicero giving them the round of 16 versus Virginia Riera and Carmen Goenaga. Double 6-1 to Talavan/Bidahorria for Delfi Brea and Bea Gonzalez, who will be back on court as a pair in Dubai (in the round of 16 there will be Saiz/Lobo), with Marta Ortega and Sofia Araujo (4) qualifying for the round of 16 against Bea Caldera and Lorena Rufo with a 6-0 7-5 win over Barrera/Caparros. Gemma Triay and Claudia Fernandez (2) will also be back on the court on Thursday against Noa Canovas and Jimena Velasco, in a day 3 schedule starting at 3 p.m. Dubai time (12 p.m. CET) and taking place on five courts: four matches on the Centre Court, three on the other four.
